Norris Edges Out Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
The British driver has outscored his teammate at all of the past five race weekends.
Lando Norris edged out team-mate and title rival the Australian for the fastest time in the closing stages of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who took the points lead from his teammate by one point after his victory in the Mexican Grand Prix two weeks ago, beat the Melbourne-born driver by a mere 0.023s.
Before then, Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair throughout the hour before sprint qualifying set to begin at 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the sole remaining contender in realistic title contention, sitting 36 points behind Norris, was classified in 17th position as his team followed a alternative strategy.
Verstappen's team-mate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to crash, though minor, when he lost control at corner four early in the session.
Tsunoda lost control over the track edges before sliding over the run-off area, and was fortunate to get away with just a light touch of the barrier.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also spun, at the final moments of the session, rotating twice through the fast downhill Mergulho turn leading to the final corner on to the start-finish straight.
The seven-time champion finished practice in 19th, trailing teammate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren pair were far ahead of the remaining drivers, with Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber third fastest, over half a second behind Piastri's pace.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was fourth quickest, with Sauber's Bortoleto ahead of the Mercedes of George Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
